[Hayley puts on her shoes and moves to head toward Rebekah's place. She doesn't take too long to get there and when she arrives, she just walks into her room.]

[Rebekah smiles as her friend makes her way into the room. She's already poured them both a glass of alcohol and she hands one over to Hayley right away.]

It's good to see you.

[Hayley greets her with a smile and takes that drink to start.]

You know, you're always welcome to invite me over whenever you like.

Right. I'll be sure to remember that. [she smiles a little. let's be real, Rebekah is a little out of practice when it comes to keeping up friendships, it's a work in progress.]

How have you been doing?

[consequence]

[Hayley shrugs, shaking her head briefly.]

It's still an adjustment. Every time I think I have it handled, something trips me up and I'm stuck in my own thoughts and feelings for what feels like hours.

[easily]

You know, you're free to come over whenever you want -- you don't have to wait for an invite. [There's a pause as she considers it:]

Though it might be a good idea to message me and wait for me to respond first.

[Hayley smirks.] Yeah, because you might be occupied? [She remembers what happened last time she just dropped by. It's not that it had been a bad thing, but it's not something she figures needs to be repeated anytime soon.]

[easily]

[Rebekah smirks a little in return.] Exactly. That tends to be something that happens a lot. [And while it had been fun bringing Hayley into things -- it's probably not something they should make a habit out of.]

But outside of that -- if you're having trouble, you can always come to me. Us girls have to stick together.

[Hayley smiles.]

I know, I just -- I'm not very good at asking for help.

Fair enough -- but the offer is there all the same.

I appreciate it, Rebekah.

[Her head tilts, watching her.] So what have you been up to? How are things with Stefan?

[easily]

Things have been good. [She ducks her head a little, as if trying to hide a shy little smile.]

Really good, actually. It's more than just a situation of convenience now. Monogamy of course is out of the question here but what we have now -- it feels much more solid.

[Perhaps because they finally stopped pretending they didn't feel something for one another.]

[Hayley smiles at that admission.]

It's about time -- and I definitely can understand the difficulty of actual commitment here.

It's nice to hear someone say that -- no one else seems to be particular pleased about our continued relationship with one another. [Klaus, Caroline, Damon --

Just about everyone has an opinion. ]

How has that been working out for you and Elijah?

[consequence]

Well, I think you're capable of choosing people that make you happy all on your own -- without the guidance or opinions of family.

[That's what she has to say about that.]

And it's good... we understand the complications, so we have our own expectations and so far it seems to work.

It's nice to see someone thinks that. [Granted, It's Stefan's friends and family that have been more of a pain about it than Klaus -- Elijah seems to be happy as long as she's happy.]

I'm glad. It's...complicated keeping things up here, sometimes. But not impossible.

[consequence]

I would think that the years you've had to practice how to manage complicated that it would make it easier.

[easily]

To be fair, most of my relationships didn't get a chance to get complicated. [Thanks, Klaus.]

Well, you've got plenty of time now. You can have all sorts of complications.

Yes. [Her tone is very dry. There's one very blonde complication she's hoping to avoid, though she doesn't mention that.]

It does seem like this place is more than willing to throw them our way.

[Hayley takes another sip of her drink then lifts a brow.]

Why do I have a feeling you're referencing something in particular?

Something, someone. A little blonde someone who has made it very clear she thinks Stefan can do better than me and by better I'm pretty sure she means her.

[Yeah, Rebekah's a little pressed about that, Caroline.]

Mm. I see. Blonde and Stefan in the same sentence. I think that is a Caroline type of particular.
